CuppaPug Rescue Mission Statement

At CuppaPug, our mission is to redefine pug rescue by placing lifelong welfare, dignity, and understanding at the heart of everything we do.

We exist to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pugs who have been surrendered, neglected, or left without a safe and loving future. Unlike traditional foster-based models, we make a lifelong commitment to every pug that comes into our care. From the moment they arrive, they are treated as our own pets, not temporary placements. They live with us, are loved by us, and are cared for as family until the perfect second-chance home is found.

Each pug receives the highest standard of veterinary care, tailored training, discipline, enrichment, and compassionate handling that respects their individual personality, history, and needs. We prioritise whole, nutritious foods, appropriate exercise, mental stimulation, and consistent routines to help each pug regain confidence, health, and trust.

Our café plays a vital role in this mission. CuppaPug is a controlled pug playground—a carefully managed environment where our rescued pugs can socialise, play, and interact with people at a pace that suits them. Exposure to everyday sounds, children, adults, and varied interactions allows our team to truly understand each pug’s temperament, boundaries, and preferences. This insight enables us to make thoughtful, informed decisions about what type of home will allow each pug to thrive.

Adoption at CuppaPug is intentional, ethical, and relationship-led. Visitors may apply to adopt only after meaningful interaction with our pugs, allowing us to pre-vet potential adopters naturally and responsibly. We observe how adults and children engage with the dogs, assess respect for canine body language, and ensure interactions are calm, safe, and positive for the pug. Only then do we proceed with applications, home checks, and suitability assessments, using the full resources of our company to support both pug and adopter.

Our commitment does not end at adoption. Families who adopt from CuppaPug receive ongoing support for the lifetime of their dog, and free entry to the café so adopted pugs can return, reconnect, and remain part of the CuppaPug family.

Through rescue, education, ethical adoption, and community engagement, CuppaPug exists to give pugs not just a second chance—but the right second chance, built on respect, responsibility, and lifelong care.
